You open your Google Business Profile and it says it's suspended. Or it's gone from Maps. Or the Get verified button is back on a profile that was verified for years.
"Google Business Profile suspended" searches come with phrases like "for no reason," "after changing address" and "appeal not approved." Here's what's going on and how to give your appeal the best chance.
Suspended, disabled, or asked to verify again?
Suspended or disabled. Google says it may suspend or disable profiles that don't follow its guidelines. You'll usually see a message on the profile and get an email.
Your whole account is restricted. Sometimes the problem is the Google account, not the profile. Then every profile you manage is affected, and you can't create or claim others. That restriction has to be lifted first, from your Google account, before you appeal the profile.
Asked to verify again. Google says that when it asks you to re-verify, it's likely because some of your business details were recently updated. If the Get verified button comes back, Google couldn't completely verify the business, and you need to do it again.
Common triggers
Google doesn't always say exactly why, but these come up again and again:
- Changing your name, address or category, especially several at once.
- A business name with extra keywords or a city that isn't on your sign or paperwork.
- A home address shown publicly when customers don't come to you. Service-area businesses should hide the address and list a service area.
- A P.O. box or virtual office used as the address.
- Duplicate profiles for the same business.
How to appeal
Use Google's Business Profile appeals tool:
- Sign in to the Google account connected to the profile.
- Pick the profile and the decision you want to appeal.
- Attach your evidence and explain the situation.
- Confirm and submit. Google reviews it and emails you the decision.
Google accepts documents like your business registration, business license, tax certificate, or a utility bill (electric, phone, water or internet). The business name and address on each one must match your profile.
You get one real shot
Google says appeals can only be submitted once. If the appeal is denied, Google may look again, but only if you send new evidence that wasn't in the first appeal.
So before you submit:
- Fix whatever likely caused it (the name, the address display, the duplicate).
- Make sure every document matches the profile exactly, down to suite numbers.
- Include more than one kind of proof if you have it.
What not to do
Don't create a new profile for the same business. Google specifically warns against it, and it can make things worse.
Don't keep editing the suspended profile hoping something sticks. Fix the cause once, then appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my Google Business Profile suspended?
Google suspends or disables profiles that don't follow its guidelines. Common triggers are name, address or category changes, keywords in the business name, a home address shown publicly, P.O. boxes and duplicate profiles.
How do I appeal a suspended Google Business Profile?
Use Google's Business Profile appeals tool: sign in, choose the profile and the decision, attach documents whose name and address match the profile, and submit. Google emails you the decision.
Can I appeal again if my appeal is denied?
Google says appeals can only be submitted once. After a denial it may review again, but only if you provide new evidence that wasn't in the original appeal.
Why is Google asking me to verify my profile again?
Google says it's likely because some business details were recently updated. If the Get verified button comes back, Google couldn't completely verify the business and you need to verify again.
