Flurries, January 19, 1977

Real snow in Orlando almost never happens. The last time flakes made national news was January 19, 1977, when flurries fell as far south as Miami. But every holiday season, Central Florida makes its own. Here's where to find it in 2026.

Now Snowing in Celebration (free)

When: nightly, late November through December 31, 2026 (Celebration Town Center has listed it into January 1). The event runs about 5:30 to 9:30 PM, with snowfalls through the evening.

Snow falls on Market Street in downtown Celebration, about 15 minutes from the Disney area. Entry and parking are free. You'll also find carolers, carriage rides and Santa photos (extra).

The "snow" is a soap foam, so it won't stick or build a snowman, but it looks the part and kids love it. Check Celebration Town Center's site for the nightly times before you go.

Christmas at Gaylord Palms (real snow and ice)

When: November 13, 2026 to January 3, 2027, at Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee.

  • The Snowball Factory: real snow to play in and throw.
  • Snow Flow Mountain: a tubing hill with unlimited rides on your ticket date, sold separately.
  • ICE!: a walk-through of giant ice carvings kept at about 9°F, with parkas provided. Read the ICE! guide.

Tickets are timed and priced by date, so book ahead for weekends and Christmas week.

A day trip for a real snow hill

Snowcat Ridge in Dade City, about 90 minutes from Orlando, has run a snow tubing hill and snow play area in past winters. Check that it's open this season before you make the drive.

Will it snow in Orlando this year?

Almost certainly not. Orlando's average January low is about 50°F, and freezing nights are rare. Cold fronts can bring a few chilly nights in the 30s, but snow needs much colder air. See Orlando's winter weather.
